Where did the parachutist end up?
The parachutist is obviously someone who ejected from a failing plane during a skirmish near the island. It is a breezy night, and the parachutist eventually lands on top of the mountain. It is evident that the man is dead, but he seems to have life because of the wind.
Why is the dead parachutist important?
The dead parachutist symbolizes the adult world and its inability to maintain peace. Piggy’s desire to learn civilized behavior from adults goes unfulfilled. The dead man also becomes the beast.
What happens to the body of Simon after he’s killed?
The boys fall on him violently and kill him. The storm explodes over the island. In the whipping rain, the boys run for shelter. Howling wind and waves wash Simon’s mangled corpse into the ocean, where it drifts away, surrounded by glowing fish.
Who all killed Simon?
Simon is dead, killed by the other boys, and the next day only Ralph seems to feel any sense of responsibility or remorse for this act. While Simon’s death was an accident, Piggy’s was not. When Jack comes and steals Piggy’s glasses one night, Piggy has had enough.
