What is the difference between ATEX and IECEx?
While ATEX is a mandatory application limited to Europe, IECEx is an international certification accepted in several countries to help build confidence in the safety of Ex equipment. The main difference is the geographical location where the certification is recognised and accepted.
What is IECEx?
IECEx Certification of Personnel Competence for Explosive Atmospheres is one of the schemes under the IECEx Certification System for the certification of personnel competence for person engaged in work and services related to explosive atmospheres.
How do you read ATEX markings?
The ATEX code is an alphanumeric string that denotes the certification achieved by the product along with the environment and conditions it is suitable for. The code can be broken down into a prefix, for example: CE0518 Ex II 2 G and suffix, for example: Ex d IIC T6 Gb.
What is IEC and IECEx?
IECEx is the IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres. It uses quality assessment specifications that are based on International Standards prepared by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
What is IECEx Qar?
For IECEx this is called a Quality Assessment Report (QAR). The manufacturer must ensure compliance with all requirements in IEC 80079-34 and have an ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System.
Which temperature class is better T3 or T4?

What is difference between EXE and EXD?
To give a very basic summary of the two: Exe enclosures are deemed ‘explosion protected’ but not necessarily ‘flame proof’ Exd enclosures are ‘flame proof’ which means they should contain an explosion.
Is ATEX NRTL?
ATEX and NRTL are similar, but not equivalent. While NRTL certifications are always provided by a third party, ATEX certifications are not. For equipment designed for use in less hazardous explosive locations, manufacturers are allowed to self-certify.
