Can you flip to defense position?
Can I flip summon into defense mode or it must be attack? No. If you manually change the battle position of a face-down monster, it must be into face-up Attack Position.
Can you switch a monster to defense mode after attacking?
You cannot change monsters to face-down Attack Position, neither manually nor by a card effect. Face-down Defense Position monsters are always flipped when changed to Attack Position.
Can you change a link monster to defense?
Link Monsters have no DEF and cannot ever be in Defense Position. They can’t be changed to Defense Position by a card effect. They can’t even be flipped into face-down Defense Position. If your opponent has a monster in the Extra Monster Zone, it’s still a monster they control so you can’t attack directly.
What happens if you attack a monster with the same defense?
If their ATK is equal, both monsters are destroyed. If a Defense Position monster is attacked and the attack target’s DEF is less than the attacking monster’s ATK, the attack target is destroyed by battle, but neither player takes battle damage (unless the attacking monster inflicts piercing battle damage).
Can you use monster Reborn on link Monsters?
Yes. And they can be summoned anywhere, not just the Extra Monster Zone.
Can a monster be flipped from defense to attack?
If a monster battles due to a card effect that conducts damage calculation without declaring an attack, it can still change its battle position afterwards. Can you summon a monster in face up defense mode?
Flip summons can never place the monster in defense position. As Xw2x mentioned Special Summons can be performed in face-up defense position, unless otherwise specified by the card.
How many times can you flip a monster?
A Flip Summon (Reverse Summon in the OCG) occurs when you flip a face-down Defense Position monster into face-up Attack Position. Flip Summons are not considered Normal Summons or Special Summons. A player can Flip Summon as many times as he/she wishes to, as long as he/she has the ability to do so.

You simply flip a face-down monster manually into face-up Attack Position. A monster is considered to be not on the Field during the Flip Summon’s Summon negation window. Flip Summon is simultaneously regarded as both a Summon and Battle position change .
