Will slick Tyres on a mountain bike?
Putting slicks on a mountain bike is ideal, especially if you’re not a dedicated roadie. You will laugh at how fast a mountain bike can be. You’ll easily be able to keep up with roadies on a slick shod mountain bike. For straight road use and no baggage on the bike, I recommend the Panaracer Pasela in 26×1.
Are slick bike Tyres good?
Slick tires offer better grip out on the road and less rolling resistance. Slick tires are narrower, have a thick, smooth layer of rubber that is even across the whole wheel, and are great at offering speed, grip even on wet surfaces, and overall great performance tires.

It would be very hard to quantify, but yes, a slick tyre will roll on tarmac considerably faster than a knobbly one, such is the increase in rolling resistance. Running the knobbly at as high a pressure as one can will improve tarmac performance, but still not to a point whereby it could compete with a slick tyre.

Can I fit 700c wheels on MTB?
You can use 700c wheels on most standard MTBs provided they’re disc brake and provided you only use narrow tyres. (The overall wheel diameter of a 700c wheel with a 23mm slick tyre on is only slightly bigger than a 26″ wheel with a 2.2 tyre on). There are of course 29er MTBs, which are designed to use 700c wheels.
