Is Lamy 2000 worth it?
Absolutely. The Lamy 2000 is a great value for a solid, dependable workhorse fountain pen. It never gets pushed aside, and for me, it’s almost always in use. I’ve since purchased an all original 1960’s Lamy 2000 and a new Stainless Steel model as well.
Does Lamy 2000 have a gold nib?
The Lamy 2000 fountain pen is a classic, piston-fill fountain pen with a 14kt gold nib. I own a couple of each nib size: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, medium oblique, and broad oblique.
Can Lamy 2000 use cartridges?
The LAMY 2000 is a piston-fill pen, which means the filling mechanism is entirely built into the pen. As a result, the pen must be used with bottled ink, no cartridges for this one. The back unscrews, which allows you to fill the pen, and an ink window helps to let you know when you’ll need to refill.
How smooth is Lamy 2000?
The finish on the Lamy 2000 both looks great and feels great in the hand… I usually write with a fine, but all of the Lamy mediums I have used were super smooth, and the 2000 was no exception. This is my first gold Lamy nib, and it’s great….Details.

Why is Lamy 2000 so popular?
So why is the Lamy 2000 such a great workhorse? In short, because it ticks all of the boxes: understated design, light weight and good balance, the ability to post, a good nib that’s not too wet, and a large ink capacity.
Is the Lamy 2000 comfortable?
The Lamy 2000 is, in my opinion, the benchmark because it does everything well for a reasonable price. In terms of comfort, I personally prefer girthier pens, so I’d actually rate the Sheaffer Legacy Heritage to be my most comfortable because it is a similar shape to the Lamy, just wider.

Is Lamy 2000 a wet writer?
The Lamy 2000’s writing experience is the best in my writing arsenal. The medium nib is very smooth, very wet, and very pleasant. The medium nib makes a far wider stroke than anything I had ever tried prior, and the line is much wetter than my previous fountain pens as well.
