Is the monkey forest safe?
Monkey Forest is a cool forest, don`t get me wrong, just as long as you are educated and prepared, and know the risk of being bitten if you get too close to the monkeys. Be careful about giving them food and don’t encourage them to climb on you. They look so small, cute and innocent, but they can be very aggressive!

The forest will be re-open on the 12th April for the second week of the easter holidays. We’ll then be open all the way until the 31st October, so long as the government will allow outdoor attractions to remain open.

How long will it take? Monkey Forest is the perfect half day attraction for all ages and most visitors spend around an hour and a half to 2 hours within the monkey enclosure before visiting our onsite information centre, video room, play areas, café and shop.

Will I see a monkey if it rains? Yes, the 140 monkeys live in freedom within the 60-acre forest and therefore visitors will always see them.

Golden monkeys can be found in in the Virunga volcanic region that spans from Northern Rwanda, Eastern Congo and Southwestern Uganda.
