How many XYZ materials can a monster have?
While the majority of the Xyz Monsters require 2 Xyz Materials, many Xyz Monsters require more or can use a variable number of Materials. While attached to an Xyz Monster (underneath the Xyz Monster Card), Xyz Materials are not treated as being on the field.
Can you add more materials XYZ monster?
It cannot attach more than the number of materials it has listed. A Trap Card that allows a player to move Xyz Materials from one Xyz Monster to another. You can move Xyz Materials from any Xyz Monster on the field. An Xyz Monster cannot have more than the listed number.

In the anime, some cards allowed monsters to be treated as more than 1 monster for an Xyz Summon (for example, Photon Caesar ), and as a result became more than 1 Xyz Material for the summoned monster. This mechanic was most likely dropped for the TCG and OCG to avoid gameplay issues.
